We are happy to announce two more states have launched their new LawHelp sites. Louisiana launched their new site, Louisianalawhelp.org, on October 25, 2012 and Mississippi launched their new site, Mslegalservices.org, on November 8, 2012. Congratulations to Lisa Stansky and Southeast Louisiana Legal Services , as well as the Louisiana LawHelp Stakeholders Committee; and Mississippi partners Ruby White, Clarence Franklin, Sam Buchanan as well as the Mississippi Legal Services Coalition.
Both sites highlight some new and interesting uses of LH3 features.
Louisiana is the first state to launch with a new companion Spanish mirror site, a fully translated Spanish-Version LawHelp site. Also check out LouisianaLawHelp.org’s audio guides on issues ranging from contractor fraud to custody and visitation rights for grandparents. To learn more about how SLLS created these and other multimedia resources, view the tutorials they created and shared with the statewide website community in SWEB. When viewing Louisiana’s new site, you may notice their use of an embedded Spanish-Language widget. This widget provides information from GobiernoUSA.gov in Spanish for residents of Louisiana, and was integrated by adding the widget’s embed code to a CKEditor.
Mslegalservices.org highlights their online intake systems with the use of a widget on the right-hand side bar, allowing users to go right from their current site to online intake forms for two different civil legal service providers. The sidebar also highlights their statewide hotlines. Mississippi also plans to upload online and interactive forms on to their dedicated “Online Forms” page in the future.
